Oude Waal The apartment is situated on the third floor of a monumental canal house and is suitable for 2 persons. The apartment has a spacious living room with a lovely view over the canal. There is a fireplace, a separate bedroom, a small open kichen and a private bathroom with a shower, a washbasin and an off-the-floor toilet. The spacious living room has a beautiful view of the widest canal in Amsterdam, the ’Waalseilandgracht’. The lounge area provides you with all the comfort you require, such as a fireplace, colour TV with DVD player, wireless internet access, a comfortable sofa and an arm chair. The dining area has a table, which seats four. The small, well equipped modern kitchen with a blue stone draining board and sink, has a gas stove, a small refrigerator, a water cooker and coffee-making facilities. Coffee, tea and Dutch “stroopwafels” (treacle waffles) are provided on a complimentary basis as well as the beverages in the refrigerator (soft drinks and beer). The bedroom is located at the back of the apartment and has a nice view of the South Church. There is a double bed (2 m x 1,80 m) which can be turned into two single beds on request. Please let us know with your reservation how you would like us to make the beds. When we prepare the apartment for your arrival we can take this into account. The bathroom has a shower, a washbasin and an off-the-floor toilet. For your comfort a de luxe set of towels and relaxing bath products will be provided.

Description of area/town/village

This comfortable private apartment is located in the centre of Amsterdam. It is situated in one of the oldest parts of Amsterdam, around the corner from the Nieuwmarkt. A unique location in the historic heart of Amsterdam bordering on beautiful canals and within walking distance from all the best sights. The apartment is in a quiet area, whilst still in the heart of Amsterdam. It is around the corner from Nieuwmarkt square, with its bars and restaurants and the historical ’Waag’ building. At present The Waag houses a restaurant. The apartment is a few minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station.

From Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Amsterdam by taxi: The ride from the airport is 20 minutes to half an hour, depending on traffic. The costs will be around EUR 45. From Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Amsterdam by train and metro: By public transport your transfer should not take much more time than a taxi ride. The train ride from the airport to Central Station (EUR 3.60 for a single journey) takes about 20 minutes, and from there you can either walk to the apartment (a 7 minute walk) or transfer to the metro to Nieuwmarkt station. Take the metro from Central Station to Oude Waal: Any metro departing from the metro terminal at Central station will stop at Nieuwmarkt (first station). Get tickets at the airport railway station for both your train ride and a ’strippenkaart’ for your metro ride. For the ride from Central Station to Nieuwmarkt stamp two strips per person in the yellow machines upon entering the metro terminal. A three-minute walk from the metrostation to the apartment: Make sure you disembark at the correct exit at Nieuwmarkt station: it is marked ’Koningstraat.’ When you get to street level, take a left turn and then turn right at the first alley: ’Brandewijnsteeg’. Walk straight across the little bridge that crosses the ’Rechtboomsloot’. Then cross the street, take a right and immediately turn left onto the schoolyard: ’Lastageweg’. At the end of the road just before the bridge, turn right and you are on the Oude Waal. Walk from Central Station to Oude Waal: Walk out of the station on the south / centre side and take a left turn across the busstation. Cross the bridge and cross the ’Prins Hendrikkade’ at the traffic lights. Turn left and take the second street on your right hand: ’Geldersekade’. Follow this street for about 500 meters and then turn left into the ’Binnen Bantammerstraat’. At the end of the street just before the bridge you will find ’Oude Waal’ on your right hand.

The basic minimum stay requirement is two nights.

The daily rate is EUR 125 per night for 2 persons.

We offer a week special for stays of 7 nights or more:
EUR 770 per week (= EUR 110 per night)

The special week rate of EUR 770 is not applicable during these dates, which means that in these periods the normal daily rate of EUR 125 per night applies:

- Easter: April 9-16 2010
- Queen’s Birthday: April 27 - May 4, 2010
- Ascension Day: May 18 - 25, 2009
- Whitsuntide: May 28 - June 4, 2009
- Gay Pride Weekend: July 30 - August 6, 2009
- IBC conference: September 10 - 14, 2009
- Christmas and New Year: December 21st 2009 - January 3rd 2010

Deposit / Balance:
A deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking for the reservation to be confirmed. The balance is to be settled upon arrival in cash.

Damage deposit:
We require a damage deposit of EUR 100 upon arrival. This will be returned to you upon checking out.

Cancellation Policy:
Deposits will not be refunded in case the renter decides to cancel his or her reservation. Please make sure that this is covered by your own travel insurance. The voucher for the reservation is personal and non-transferable to any and all third-parties. In case the renter remains absent on the first day of the reservation without further notice, we will make the apartment available for immediate renting to other parties. In this case the reservation made will be void and no restitutions will be given, be it in payment or in days remaining.
